The Medical Imaging Department examines bones, organs, or other tissues by X-ray. The X-ray tube emits rays, invisible to the naked eye, that pass through the skin and then create an image. It’s like we’re taking a photo of the inside of your body.

To book or cancel an appointment

To book (or cancel) an X-ray appointment, please call 418-684-JEFF (5333)/1-888-984-5333, ext. 1484, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Procedure

In the examination room, the medical imaging technologist will tell you how to position yourself depending on the area to be examined. Once you are in position, to ensure accuracy, it is important that you remain still while we take the image. Depending on the X-ray required, the technologist may take one or more images. They might ask you to take deep breaths, exhale, or hold your breath for a few seconds. X-rays are a non-invasive and painless exam.

Special considerations

If you are pregnant or think you might be, please let the medical imaging technologist know.
