General Radiology
General radiology includes imaging examinations performed using X-rays.
These exams are mainly used to examine bones, lungs, and certain organs to help support medical diagnosis.
Examples of common exams include:
• X-ray of a bone or joint (fracture, sprain)
• Chest X-ray (lungs, thorax)
• Abdominal X-ray
• Follow-up of certain medical conditions
Exams not included in general radiology
General radiology does not include the following specialized exams:
- Ultrasound
- Computed tomography (CT scan)
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Nuclear medicine
- Exams requiring specialized contrast media injections
