Learn all about pregnancy and parenthood
Our prenatal information meetings, in English, are designed to prepare parents for a positive experience during pregnancy, childbirth and the early days of their child's life.
During these group meetings of just over two hours each, you will find answers to questions that you may have during your pregnancy. This is also a great opportunity to meet other couples and share your experiences as future parents.
Who are these meetings for?
The expectant mother and her partner (or the person who will be with her at birth) who speak English.
Main topics
- Labour and delivery
- Physiology, what's normal, positions
- Managing labour pain, support (how to coach during childbirth), procedures (actions to assist in delivery), and Caesarean sections
- Becoming parents
- Baby care, returning home and adjusting to parenthood
- Feeding your baby
- Breastfeeding, milk production (when your milk comes in)
Format and location
Due to COVID-19 and possible changes to government measures, we have yet to decide if the meetings will take place online or in person, or both. After you register, you will receive an email one week before the meetings begin to let you know what format the classes will take.
Please note that a limited number of people will be able to attend the in-person meetings, if we are able to have them. Based on your answers on the registration form, the prenatal team will decide who can attend those meetings.
Meetings are in English. If you would prefer prenatal meetings in French, please visit the CIUSSSCN website.
