To find a family doctor  or a nurse practitioner specialized in primary care (IPSPL), register with the Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF).

How do I register or update my registration?

Online through the Québec Family Doctor Finder

By calling 418 821-7873 or 1 844 666-2727 (toll-free), Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exception of public holidays

When should I update my registration?

Your contact information has changed

Remember to update your telephone numbers and e-mail address so that you can be easily contacted when a doctor or an IPSPL is assigned to you.

Your health condition has changed

If your health deteriorates during the waiting period, it is your responsibility to inform GAMF staff, who will reassess your priority level.

You can request a health assessment by a GAMF nurse. The nurse will be able to update the priority assigned to your registration according to your condition.

What is the wait time?

It is important to note that GAMF helps to support patients in their search for a family doctor or an IPSPL, but has no power over wait times. GAMF is responsible for prioritizing applications and allocating them when doctors or IPSPL ask GAMF to do so.

It is impossible to predict how long you will be on the GAMF waiting list. Once you have registered, a priority level will be set according to your health condition. The wait time will then depend on your priority level and the availability of family doctors or an IPSPL in your area.

Once you have been allocated a family doctor or an IPSPL, you will receive written or telephone confirmation.
