Banque d'interprètes du réseau de la santé et des services sociaux

The Banque d’interprètes du réseau de la santé et des services sociaux (BI du RSSS), Quebec’s health and social services interpreter bank, gives people with limited knowledge of French access to health and social services in their own language, anywhere in Quebec. The Bank complements other existing resources in both the community and public networks.

Requests for interpreter services must be made by an institution of the health and social services network (RSSS) or by a person working for that institution.

Objectives

Ensure that people who are not proficient in French have timely access to safe health and social services adapted to their linguistic and cultural needs;
Improve service efficiency by facilitating communication between the professional and the client;
Provide accurate and confidential interpretation while respecting the values of the people involved.

Services

Available 7 days a week, in person or remotely (by telephone or videoconference)
Services do not include accompanying users to their appointments.

Service requests

To submit a service request to the BI du RSSS, you must have access to the designated platform (IMS).

24/7 emergency interpretation service

In an emergency outside business hours, please contact your institution’s activity coordinator according to the procedure.

Costs

Interpretation services are free for users. Costs are covered by the institution making the request.

Cancellation

A request may be cancelled at any time. However, if a confirmed appointment is cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, the institution will be billed and the interpreter paid, even if the cancellation results from an unforeseen event or an emergency.
