In-home support services are for seniors who need assistance with some of their daily living activities. Our team of social workers, specialized educators, nurses, and occupational therapists is there to help you and your loved ones and to help you stay at home.

Access to in-home care

If you need help with bathing, meals, housekeeping, etc., we can help arrange the services below from an appropriate provider (CLSC, homecare cooperative, or private agency).

Vacuum-sealed meals

To be eligible for our vacuum-sealed meals program, you must already be enrolled in one of our other programs, such as the Day Centre. These affordable, nutritious, and tasty meals are carefully prepared and then vacuum-sealed.

In-home stimulation

We offer fun and good-for-you activities at home to seniors who rarely go out and who are at-risk (physical or cognitive problems). The program also serves to provide respite for caregivers.

Nursing care

Our nurses can monitor your health and medications, change dressings, take blood samples, etc.

Palliative care

Palliative care provides in-home care for anyone with a terminal disease, while supporting their loved ones.

Respite and convalescence

Respite: A temporary stay provides respite for caregivers while their loved one is housed for a few days in a safe facility. Jeffery Hale social workers assess your needs and submit the application for respite care in a public seniors’ residence. Book well in advance for the summer vacation season, as demand is high and the number of beds is limited.

Convalescence: These stays provide a safe place where you receive care and meals while recovering from surgery or illness. Normally, the hospital social worker is responsible for reserving a room in a public establishment offering convalescence services. However, if for any reason you find you are unable to manage at home after surgery or illness, a social worker at Jeffery Hale can arrange for convalescence.
